Haematology
The term Haematology is derived from Greek, meaning the study of blood. Basic haematology involves the analysis of the concentration, structure, and functions of the formed elements (cells) of blood and their products.
The Haematology department involves four main areas:
- Hb, Hct, RBC, MCV, MHC, MCHC
- WBC differential count
- Platelet evaluation
- Hb
- MCV film
- HbEPP
- HbA2
- HbF
- HbH
- PT, APTT, Fibrinogen
- Platelet count
- Bleeding time
- Platelet aggregation studies
